This is a free-of-charge, but fairly rudimentary automatic translation facility, but you may find it of use for simple words or phrasesClick on the Babel Fish to the left to go to the Babel Fish Translation Web page. This provides automatic translation between a number of European languages, as does the Google facility, www.google.com/translate. After graduating with a Degree in Chemical Engineering in 1969 and a Masters Degree in Control Engineering in 1970, John White spent all his working life, in the Oil and Chemical Industries. In 1984 he joined what is now Total Lindsey Oil Refinery Ltd, near Grimsby, in England, which is owned by the French company, Total (www.total.com). John retired from Total, in June, 2003.

Further details on John's career in industry are contained in John's General CV, which can be downloaded to your PC by clicking on the hyperlink in this sentence, or the one at the bottom of the page. It is in Adobe Systems' "Portable Document Format (PDF), see the Downloads page for more information on this. John's Detailed Career History is also available.

Working for a French company significantly exposed John to the French language. After an extensive course in French in Paris, John had a lengthy assignment to Total facilities in France. Whilst there he was required to translate, from French into his mother tongue, all the specification pertaining to his own discipline, and technical and legal documents required for the construction and purchase of a major new production facility. He has also done translation work for beer-related organisations, such as: Het Blauwershof, a classic bar in Godewaersvelde, in France; Heineken; and the Belgian Monastic Brewery, Orval (www.orval.be and White Beer Travels Web page).

John's has been fully immersed in the particular jargon of the Oil, Chemical and Brewing Industries, in both English and in French, and can thus ensure that the correct terminology is used when carrying out translations in these fields, something that is as important as the ability to translate everyday French into English.

White Beer Travels is thus able to offer a cost-effective, yet high quality French to English translation service. The current rate for this is €0.12 per target (English) word, with a minimum payment of €40. Work which does not lend itself to a "per word" rate, such as client-generated modifications to previous translations done by White Beer Travels, would be charged at a rate of  €48 per hour. For payment options, see below.

The documents(s) to be translated would typically be sent to White Beer Travels as e-mail attachment(s) and would be returned the same way. The original format of the document(s) would be preserved.

John very much looks forward to handling your French to English translation requirements. Should you require further information, please do not hesitate to get in touch with John; this can be done by e-mail, by clicking here; his other contact details can be found by clicking on Contact Details.

An example of John's translation work is to be found on the website for the Bruxellensis Festival (www.festivalbruxellensis.be), a beer festival that is held in the Belgian capital of Brussels. The English pages on this website are John's translations of its French pages.
