Würzburg, in Germany, is world-renowned for its "Franken" wines. However, White (Wheat) Beers have certainly travelled to the city. The three different ones shown here are excellent examples. All are brewed in the city's Würzburger Hofbräu Brewery. Click on the glasses to go to the brewery's website, from which the image was pasted

This Web page covers the Contents of the White Beer Travels website; it is essentially the White Beer Travels Site Map. The above photos, which were taken by John White, have a related theme, in that they feature the beer menus for two great Belgian Speciality Beer bars, i.e. the menus provide details of the Contents of their cellars. The first shows John White's grandson, Jack Skinner, studying the Café Botteltje's menu; Jack was five years old when the photo was taken, in February, 2003. This bar is within the Hotel Marion, in Ostend (www.hotelmarion.be). This photo appears on page 164 of the 2005 edition of Tim Webb's don't-enter-Belgium-without Good Beer Guide Belgium (www.booksaboutbeer.com, White Beer Travels Web page). With over 300 different beers, the Botteltje has the biggest selection of beers for an hotel bar in the world. Click here for more details of a White Beer Travels Beer Hunt that used the Hotel Marion as a base, in July, 2003. Café Botteltje is covered in detail in a seventy page White Beer Travels Guide to Ostend & The Belgian Coast, available from the Downloads page, which can be reached by clicking here. Click here for a photo of Jack's sister, Emma Skinner, reading the Botteltje's menu.

The second photo, which was taken in July, 2003, shows Stephen D'Arcy of Brussels CAMRA, holding the superbly illustrated beer menu for Kroegske (www.kroegske.be), in Emelgem (Vijfwegenstraat 35, tel 051 30 77 63). This truly is one of the world's greatest bars, and was visited in the Beer Hunt just mentioned. Click here to see the White Beer Travels page dedicated to this bar. Click here for details of Stephen's invaluable Guide to the Specialty Beer scene in Brussels and beyond. In the photo, Stephen has one of the many excellent and rare beers making up the contents of the menu, a Contreras Mars Especial (6.2%). Later, we were to have something even rarer, a 1972 Gueuze from the defunct Eylenbosch brewery, see the Past Beer Hunts page!
